There are a variety of neuromodulator injectables, (Botox® and Dysport® being among the most well-known), which are used as a minimally invasive treatment to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing targeted facial muscles. At Lazzara Dermatology, we use expert interventions to create a refreshed and youthful look, all while preserving your natural expressions.
As we age, we lose volume in our face due to the redistribution of fat. During the aging process we also lose bone, collagen, and elastin. Dermal fillers restore volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours for a rejuvenated appearance and revitalized you. Juvederm® and Restylane® fillers are a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is naturally found in the body and plays a vital role in hydration of the skin, as well as supporting the production of collagen and elastin offering an anti-aging effect. Other fillers like Radiesse® are considered biostimulators and have the added benefit of stimulating the body to produce collagen and elastin. Dr. Lazzara carefully selects and administers fillers tailored to your individual facial structure, ensuring balanced and natural results that last.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing process and boosting collagen and elastin production. This treatment helps improve the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, and uneven skin tone and texture. Microneedling is safe for most skin types, and a series of treatments is typically recommended to achieve optimal results.
Scars are permanent marks that form when the skin heals from trauma. Scars can occur from injuries like cuts or burns, acne, resolving infections like chickenpox, and surgery. The texture and color of scars are variable and can range from being thickened and raised to flat or sunken. Some individuals are susceptible to creating keloid scars, which is when too much collagen is formed at a wound site and the scar grows larger than the injury itself. Effective treatments of scars can include a series of corticosteroid injections, topical therapies to improve texture and color, filler, or in some cases surgery to remove the scarred tissue and create a better appearing scar. Dr. Lazzara's expert surgical and dermatologic knowledge makes her well equipped to improve your scar.
Earlobe tears occur due to continuous wear of heavy earrings or traumatic events in which your ear is torn, pulled, or stretched. At Lazzara dermatology we take care to restore the shape of your ear through surgical intervention in the setting of our well-appointed outpatient office.

You should plan for your cosmetic consultation by bringing a list of all the medications you take, including over-the-counter pain-relievers and vitamins/minerals. You should also provide a list of any surgeries or cosmetic treatments you had in the past. Additionally, it is important to let us know if you are currently pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding. On the day of your aesthetic treatment, you should come with a clean face, meaning no make-up, moisturizer, or other products applied to the treatment area. You should also avoid drinking alcoholic beverages for 24 hours prior to your treatment and stop taking blood thinning medications If not prescribed or medically necessary per your primary care doctor.
Skin aging is caused from several factors. One of the most contributing factor is UV light exposure from the sun. Chronic sun exposure causes damage to the proteins collagen and elastin which give the skin its structure and elasticity. Additionally, as we age, the body decreases the production of these two vital proteins contributing to youthful skin. Other factors that can lead to premature aging include smoking, alcohol, diet, and stress.
Botulinum toxin works to smooth dynamic wrinkles by blocking nerve signals that make muscles contract. Dynamic wrinkles are lines that are formed through facial expression like smiling, frowning and furrowing. By temporarily paralyzing the muscles responsible for facial expression, neurotoxin smooths away lines and can prevent deeper lines from forming. Common treatment areas are the forehead, crows feet, and frown lines.
Most patients experience minimal downtime. You might notice slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, but this typically subsides within 24 hours, allowing you to return to most normal activities. For the first 7 days following treatment, it is important to avoid strenuous exercise, laying flat, rubbing the injection site or any type of facial, microdermabrasion, or massage. Patients should also avoid taking blood thinners like Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin or herbal supplements.
It Is important to call our office immediately if you experience severe pain, skin blanching or whitening around your injection site, eye pain, blurriness or sudden loss of vision.
Botulinum toxin, in addition to improving wrinkles, is also commonly used to treat excessive sweating known as hyperhidrosis and bruxism, which is the involuntary action of clenching or grinding your teeth. When used off-label to treat bruxism, you also gain the aesthetic benefit of facial slimming and contouring.
The duration varies by treatment and individual. Each person metabolizes products differently and on their own timeline. Neurotoxin results typically last 3-4 months, while fillers can last 6-18 months depending on the type and area treated.
Most treatments are minimally invasive and involve little to no discomfort. Numbing options are available to minimize pain, ensuring a comfortable experience.
